- Snowy Plover perimeter fencing adjusted and repaired.

- Sheriff's patrols increased during peak summer user hours

- Ravens, birds of prey and human activity threaten birds in the protected areas.
- Staff have spent a lot of time on the North Coast sites of Greyhound Rock, Davenport Landing, Scott Creek Beach and Bonny Doon parking area, picking up trash, removing graffiti and repairing downed fencing.
- The Board of Supervisors accepted the Scott Creek Beach Project on June 25, 2002.

2004
- Perimeter fencing moved inland to avoid unusually high tides.
- Snowy Plover Protection Coordinator Mike Scheele met with the Monterey Bay Area Snowy Plover Working Group to prepare for breeding season start March 1.
- At the start of the breeding season, the perimeter fence was expanded outward and the County Sheriff's office was notified to increase enforcement patrols.
- The first nest was protected April 8.
- Overnight "No Parking" signs installed in parking area and along the highway to facilitate enforcement.
- Loss of Parks Department staff position for Snowy Plover Protection Program Coordinator.
- Caltrans Encroachment Permit Rider allows "No Parking 10pm-6am signs posted at the parking area and along the highway.

- Staff built and installed several enclosures and protective fencing along the Dunes area.
- Staff continue to assist Point Reues bird group in building enclosures for nesting Snowy Plover.
- Staff installed additional signage on Scott Creek Beach to help protect lagoon fish breeding habitat. Staff worked with the National Marine Fisheries Service on sign design and placement.

- Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity volunteered to remove sand from ADA ramp and platform.
- New volunteer to organize beach clean-up, keeping the bulletin board up to date and free of graffiti.
- Rocks placed at the entrance to stop illegal camping.
- Planning staff is working with the Scotts Creek Technical Advisory Committee on concepts for Scott Creek lagoon restoration and bridge replacement.
- Environmental damage continues on Scott Creek Beach bluffs despite rock placement.
- California native Plant Society organized a work day to remove invasive ice plant.

- Director’s Report - Regarding Scott Creek, I did communicate with the deputy director of Fish & Wildlife, Alex Pitts. We had a long conversation about the biological opinion and its connection to construction projects. I’m going to have another conversation with our attorney. It’s all quite convoluted, but I am following up and trying to get it straightened out.

- North Coast Facilities and Management Plan The state Coastal Conservancy awarded a planning grant to the County for the development of a North Coast Facilities and Management Plan, which would consolidate all the various federal, state, and local government agencies’ planning and capital improvement plan documents into one comprehensive document. State Parks has also contributed funding for the project. The state contributions will fund the hiring of a consultant to review existing documents, facilitate stakeholder meetings, and produce a regional planning document. The Board will consider a resolution to accept the funds at its December 7th hearing and will consider the Request-for-Proposal for a planning consultant at its January 11, 2022, hearing.
